Ten days of giveaways and traveling down publishing memory lane and … new book news! Scroll to the bottom for the schedule.
2020. Yep. THAT year ? The year the world as we know it fell apart (and the year we still haven’t quite recovered from yet).
Because it had been a while since I’d written in the Ridley Kayne world, I reread the first two books at the beginning of 2020, making notes as I went, AND writing some extra scenes from Archer’s point of view. I sent those out to my readers at the beginning of March.
And less than a month later, the whole world was in lockdown.
Riley was not exactly a chilled baby, so I found it pretty much impossible to do any writing while she was awake (and nap times were not exactly consistent when she was very little ??). We had planned for her to start daycare in April, but that, of course didn’t happen because of lockdown.
I know there are many authors who wrote LOADS of words while in lockdown. I was not one of them ?
Amazon was allowing authors to move their preorders because of COVID-related complications, but only by a month at a time. So I ended up moving Elemental Heir‘s release date … six times? Seven times? In the end, I honestly lost count.
Riley’s daycare reopened near the end of June that year. I thought I would finally get back to decent amounts of writing every day, but then we had to deal with daycare germs (I got sick more times in the second half of 2020 than EVER before in my life ?) and a period of bad sleep regression (and lack of sleep just knocks the immune system down even further).
But finally, FINALLY, in November 2020, I published Elemental Heir.
Hardest book of my life ?
So … let’s just leave it at that for my ninth year of publishing, shall we?!
10TH ANNIVERSARY MERCHANDISE
Reminder: I’ve created a special 10th anniversary design for the merchandise in my Society6 store. If you zoom in on the design, you’ll see that all the main characters (main character + love interest) from all the books I’ve written over the past ten years are featured in tiny text inside the 1 and 0!
i.e. Vi, Ryn, Calla, Chase, Em, Dash, Ridley, Archer, Elle, Dex, Sarah, Aiden, Livi, Adam, Andi, Noah, Sophie and Caleb.
There are some other secondary characters I really wanted to include, but once I started adding them … the list began to grow too long. ?
**SIGNED PRINT GIVEAWAY**
Another reminder: I’m giving away 20 signed, personalized prints with the 10th anniversary design (see the picture below) to 20 random people who leave a comment on this blog over the next ten days. All you have to do to enter is comment on this blog post or one of the others between now and March 10th. ?

I loved reading Archer’s POV. I hope someday there will be more from the Ridley Kayne Chronicles. Your books are so good I can never get enough ??
I feel your pain on 2020. My daughter graduated high school that year and her senior prom was canceled. She was so heartbroken ? she missed out on a lot her senior year
I love archer’s POV also. 2020 was a hard year. And yeah – lets leave it at that.
I wasn’t into reading before, but then I read the City of Wishes and that book got me into it and then I read the Creepy Hollow series and it’s definitely my favourite 😊💖 Really love your work and I’m glad 2020 is over now.
I LOVED reading archers POV. I loved all the books in this series! I know I read the elemential heir as soon as it came out. You work is amazing and I can not wait to read the next book you release!!
The elemental heir series has been my favorite series read in the last year – it was so well written, and I loved the characters!! Congrats on 10 years!!
It’s been so fun to follow these posts and see what happened each year of your publishIng career. I found myself trying to figure out what year I discovered your books. I read the Trouble series first (minus the last one), which I really enjoyed. Because of that, I decided to try out Creepy Hollow (I don’t naturally gravitate toward fantasy, but this had a “real world” connection so it was easier to convince myself to give it a chance ?) and was instantly hooked by Vi’s story. I was so excited when Calla’s and Emerson’s stories came out. Excited to see what’s coming tomorrow!
It’s exciting to learn some of the background, struggles, triumphs and the likes thereof, of our favorite writers, Thank you for sharing!
I love the Ridley Kayne Chronicles— I think I finished all the books in two days! I loved the characters so much and was really sad when I finished reading the books. Congratulations on ten years!
I missed the mail!
I missed it because of Dobby, the house elf
He sealed up the barrier to stop me from getting on my email’s King cross station and now
Here I am late by 3 days!!!!!
P.S. I absolutely love your books.
And just like that
The characters are the ones that I can’t get out of my mind.
I’ve read all of them except the Trouble series(which I have started)
