Celebrating 10 Years, Day 4

Ten days of giveaways and traveling down publishing memory lane and … new book news! Scroll to the bottom for the schedule.

Back at the end of 2013, when I published The Faerie War and completed Violet’s trilogy, I called that “the end” of Creepy Hollow. But in reality, I had been planning for the continuation of the series since writing the beginning of Violet’s story. (And sharp-eyed readers noticed I’d left a few open threads at the end of The Faerie War ?) Though I hadn’t figured out most of the finer details, I knew the overall arc for Calla (main character of the second trilogy) and Emerson (main character of the third trilogy).

But because I needed a break from fantasy after finishing that first trilogy, I didn’t tell anyone at the end of 2013 that I hoped I would one day return to Creepy Hollow.

Fast forward to the beginning of 2015, I had just spent a year writing contemporary romance and, while I loved it, I was SOOOO ready to return to Creepy Hollow!

In March 2015 I announced I would be continuing the series—with not just three books, but SIX!!

And you guys were … well. Excited is an understatement ?

You guys are the absolute best!!

To this day, the final scene of A Faerie’s Secret remains my favorite ending I’ve ever written. Well, those last few lines to be specific ? Guys. I had been planning that ending since the early days of writing Violet’s story, when I wasn’t even certain Calla’s story would ever be written! It felt SOOO good to finally get there and reveal “the greatest secret of all”!!

My two girls! Violet and Calla ?

Ah, Calla and Chase. I will OBVIOUSLY always love Vi and Ryn, and many readers still tell me Ryn is their fave, but there’s a special place in my heart for the damaged hero who has “seen the dark things of the world” and is trying to redeem himself. Chase is one of those ?❤️

When readers just get it ???

After that shocker of an ending for A Faerie’s Secret, I was excited to continue Calla’s story! Bring on the second half of 2015 and A Faerie’s Revenge.

I didn’t originally plan it this way, but the release of A Faerie’s Revenge ended up coinciding with a trip to Germany and Italy (my husband was still a scientist back then, and he had a conference in Germany and a lab collaboration in Italy). I had a finished copy of the paperback delivered to the hotel we were staying at in Germany (my local printer hadn’t printed copies yet when we left South Africa) and by the time it was release day, I was in Pavia, Italy!

Series selfie when we got back home after the overseas travels ?

Also in 2015 … Tantor Media acquired the audio rights to the first three Creepy Hollow books and produced and published them.

Creepy Hollow audiobooks

And I rebranded the Trouble series book covers! Which means The Trouble with Falling was never actually published with its original cover, because I still hadn’t written it yet at this point ?

10TH ANNIVERSARY MERCHANDISE

Reminder: I’ve created a special 10th anniversary design for the merchandise in my Society6 store. If you zoom in on the design, you’ll see that all the main characters (main character + love interest) from all the books I’ve written over the past ten years are featured in tiny text inside the 1 and 0!

i.e. Vi, Ryn, Calla, Chase, Em, Dash, Ridley, Archer, Elle, Dex, Sarah, Aiden, Livi, Adam, Andi, Noah, Sophie and Caleb.

There are some other secondary characters I really wanted to include, but once I started adding them … the list began to grow too long. ?

**SIGNED PRINT GIVEAWAY**

Another reminder: I’m giving away 20 signed, personalized prints with the 10th anniversary design (see the picture below) to 20 random people who leave a comment on this blog over the next ten days. All you have to do to enter is comment on this blog post or one of the others between now and March 10th. ?
